On Thursday, the fire started ravaging the Tafersit Mountain Forest and is still seemingly out of control. Several photos and videos published on social media show the extent of the wildfires near Iferni – Driouch Province.

Local media reported that hundreds of firefighters have been battling wildfires in a forested, mountainous area of Morocco’s Rif.

Firefighting units had requested backup from Moroccan airforce’s Canadair. The same sources added that Spain has also sent tanker planes to douse the significant blazes in the region, which are still not under control.

Flames blazed dozens of pines acres and there, to date, there are no official statements on the number of injured and the extent of damage caused.
