The Atlas Lions coach held a press conference at the Moulay Abdellah Complex in Rabat on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, The Moroccan Football team coach Vahid Halilhodžić reunited the press for a briefing in the conference hall of the Moulay Abdellah Complex in Rabat. A conference that comes two days before the first friendly match of the national team against Libya planned in Oujda.
The successor of Hervé Renard raised the various issues that fuel national sports news, including the return of Abderrazzak Hamdallah, and the refusal of Kevin Malcuit to play for Morocco. He also named the injured players who won’t be able to play the upcoming friendly games.

He is facing difficulties in creating a stable team since the players are exhausted by the accumulation of matches with their clubs in addition to the injured players, which is particularly the case of Hakim Ziyech, who should return to the Netherlands today. According to Halilhodžić, the Ajax Amsterdam midfielder is “too tired” to participate in the two national team matches scheduled for 11 and 15 October against Libya and Gabon.
Ziyech is not the only player to mark his absence. Adel Taarabt, Ashraf Hakimi, Noussair Mazraoui, Nabil Dirar, and Romain Saïss are also on this absentee list. The Bosnian had no choice but to call five other players as reinforcements: Mehdi Carcela, Abdelkarim Baadi, Nayef Aguerd, Omar El Kaddouri, and Walid El Karti.

Asked about the return of Abderrazzak Hamdallah to the national team, Vahid Halilhodžić explained that the player refused to wear the colors of Morocco again. “His name was in the expanded list, but in a phone interview with Mustapha Hadji, he asked him not to rely on him, and it is not even worth calling him,” the coach said. He added that the level of the player of Al Nassr has “decreased in comparison with the previous season.”
Regarding Kévin Malcuit, the national coach said that it was the player himself who asked to join the Atlas Lions before declining. “He wanted to play for Morocco, and he even retweeted an article announcing his summons. However, things changed when he read comments against his presence in the Atlas Lions, “said Halilhodžić.
As a reminder, the Atlas Lions will face friendly the Libyan selection Friday, October 11, at the stadium of honor of Oujda, before facing Gabon on October 15 in Tangier.
