After a chase that lasted about forty minutes and despite warning shots, the boat refused to comply, which forced the Coast Guard to shoot the boat’s engine.

The offenders and the cargo of recovered drugs were brought back to the port of Tangier-city and handed over to local authorities.

According to a military source, on the same day, another unit of the Royal Navy carried out the abortion of the second operation of drug trafficking off the coast of Assilah, around 6:00 am.

This operation, it is said, allowed the arrest of four traffickers and the seizure of a large number of drugs. The offenders and the drug seizures were handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the investigations and legal proceedings, the same source said.
