Moroccan authorities announced on Wednesday, April 10th that the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ) arrested four terrorists, aged 33 to 38 near Taza.
According to the Ministry of Interior’s statement, the leader of the terrorist cell was involved with terrorist activities in Syria and Iraq and had served a jail sentence in 2015.
The gathered intel indicates that the head of the terrorist cell was the one behind the recruitment of other members. He also had plans on expanding his operations and plotting terrorist attacks on the Moroccan soil to impair the Kingdom’s stability.
Morocco has set counter-terrorism at the top of its priorities since 2003 and has successfully dismantled numerous terrorist cells in Morocco and helped European countries in their fight against terrorism.
